The Archives was established to preserve the early history of the Reconstructionist movement and to collect the records of the College since its founding in 1968. The Archives include the world’s largest collection of personal papers of and correspondence with Rabbi Mordecai M. Kaplan, Ph.D. — more than 10,000 items of correspondence dating from 1908 to 1976 — as well as the papers of Ira Eisenstein, Ph.D. (RRC’s founding president); the papers of Judith Kaplan Eisenstein, Ph.D.; materials relating to early institutions, organizations and leaders of the Reconstructionist movement; and selected materials related to disciples and associates of Rabbi Kaplan.
